Beltpack PFDs are a great option for the experienced stand up paddleboarder. However, a lot of the beltpacks currently available are poorly designed or simply too expensive. NZSUP is delighted to announce that they will be working directly with top NZ lifejacket manufacturer Hutchwilco to design the next generation of beltpack PFDs specifically for stand up paddleboarders. While many paddleboarding brands have a product from a Chinese factory with their logo on it, this will be the first direct collaboration between a paddleboarding organisation and a manufacturer to trial and perfect the product. Hutchwilco Limited is a proudly New Zealand owned and operated manufacturer and has been in the marine business since 1894. Their products are available via over 250 outlets around the country. Hi I recently bought a KTI personal locator beacon along with a compact case to ensure it is protected in case I decide to surf after my distance paddle. It fits nicely into my life jacket belt. It does not rely on cellphone or VHF r exception and when activated uses up tp 66 satellites to contact the Rescue Control Centre in Wellington. I am a rescue crew member for Coastguard and have witnessed the urgency from cCoastguard and any boats in the area when a PLB is activated. It has a battery life of 10 years and I will most probably never use it but it gives me the confidence to push my limits. Safe paddling. Fraser from Whangamata.
