Surfing NZ has revised its selection policy for the SUP Team representing New Zealand at the ISA World Championships. As well as results in the NZ SUP Nationals, selectors will consider a paddler’s other national and international results, previous ISA results, team compatibility and commitment.

The team will be announced on Wednesday 3rd May 2017.

Here are the formal criteria:

4.0 The National Selection Committee will take into consideration the following criteria when selecting national teams for Stand Up Paddleboarding events:

a. The annual NZ SUP Inc. Nationals, which will be the primary selection event for the representatives of the SUP Racing Divisions at the ISA Stand Up and Paddleboard World Championships;

b. The annual Surfing New Zealand Inc. National Surfing Championships, which will be the sole selection event for the SUP Surfing team members;

c. Results at previous ISA Stand Up Paddleboarding events;

d. Results at any other domestic and international events held in the lead up to the selection date;

e. Professionalism, commitment, compatibility and general suitability to represent New Zealand on the world stage;

f. Such other factors as the members of the Selection Committee consider relevant.
