If you’re looking for SUP tuition, we strongly recommend using accredited schools and qualified instructors wherever possible. While SUP is essentially a very safe sport, if it is not taught correctly using appropriate equipment, your experience is very likely to be less than pleasurable. There can be a world of difference between the teaching and safety practises of a professionally run paddleboarding school, and the ‘casual operator’ on a beach who has simply got themselves a couple of boards and has no formal training or qualifacations whatsoever!
The following schools have all completed the SurfingNZ Accreditation process, which means they have qualified SUP instructors and have complied with all the current regulations and guidelines.
The following schools have not completed the Accreditation process, but have ISA/SNZ qualified SUP instructors, who have been trained to deliver properly structured paddleboarding lessons on appropriate equipment, and utilising proper safety practises.
